I just want to remember this quiche without telling everybody about it
Picture this. You go to a restaurant (say Pastis), you order a dish (say, a quiche florentine), and it blows you away. You’ll definitely be back for it, so you snap a photo of it.
Now, where could you put it so you can remember to order it the next time?
Google Maps?
You decide to put it in Google Maps, since you use it to get directions and find places to go anyway. Wouldn’t it be nice to see the photo of that quiche the next time you get directions there?
But the only way to put a picture into a Google Maps place is to post it publicly with your full name.
Apple Maps?
Alright, so you try Apple Maps. You’re adding the photo to the place and you get a message saying it’ll posted publicly on Apple Maps. At least they give you the option to not attach your name.
Odyssey Maps: Private & Personal
Public photos in mapping apps were a big pet peeve of mine, so I built my own maps app called Odyssey.
In Odyssey, you can note when you were at a place, along with photos and notes and people you were with.
Everything in Odyssey is private to you. Your photos and reviews aren’t published as soon as you tap save. Feel free to post anything about a place or photos of you and your kids and other candid moments that mean something to you.
Download Odyssey on the App Store, and remember where you’ve been without anybody up in your business.
